Izzie's Crocs

Well, technically they're Ben's Crocs, but Izzie has become obsessed with them. I'm not sure if it's because she can put them on and take them off by herself or what... When Colin brought them home Ben referred to them as the shoes with the "alliguanas." (ie alligators ie Crocs)

She clomps around the house in them all day and has, on occasion even brought them into her bath. And she will pierce your ears with her screams if Ben tries to reclaim them!

We've also taught Izzie to hold up one finger when we say, "How old are you, Izzie?" I'm sure she has no idea what it means, but it sure is cute!

Watering the Plants

We've started some herbs, tomato and pepper plants and have been checking each day to see what how many are up and if they need to be watered.

Izzie takes her watering seriously. She finds it highly irritating that I like to help her with this task, but otherwise she jabs the spout right into the dirt stabbing plants left and right... and then she'll try to sneak a drink herself.

Wrestling with Daddy

Ben uses Daddy's belt to hoist himself up while Daddy is busy kissing Izzie.

But he wasn't fast enough to escape Daddy's kisses.

Then Izzie sees her chance while Daddy is busy with Ben...

Poor Daddy!

Again...

Visitors from Oklahoma Part 2

Ben's read this book so many times he doesn't even have to look at the words for the first three pages; he started reciting them as we buckled him into his car seat the other day.

Ben was our official letter-picker for Upwords and he did a great job.

Izzie, playing the game where she runs from person to person getting hugs and kisses.

Before the visit Ben had really been looking forward to playing hungry hippos, but when Grandma Ann and Patsy got here he was distracted by other things. We did manage to play on the morning they had to fly home... and Izzie was awake to witness it. I usually ask Ben to wait until Izzie is sleeping because I don't want her to swallow a marble, but I figured with all the extra supervision we could handle things.

Needless to say, Izzie was thrilled to be included!

Visitors from Oklahoma!

We had a wonderful visit with Grandma Ann and Patsy over part of their spring break. Ben read and was read to for hours... surprisingly the Hungry Hippos didn't come out until the morning our visitors left. Poor Grandma Ann had to sit through more tellings of "The Little Engine That Could" than any human should have to endure within a 3 day period. Ben's taste in literature was a little more ecclectic with Grandma Patsy. They spent a lot of time checking out Good Housekeeping and learning interesting facts from "Caterpillars, Bugs and Butterflies." (Thanks, Grandpa Steve!) For example, did you know that the luna moth doesn't eat, and in fact does not even have a mouth?

Sunday after church, armed with Chinese take-out, we went up to Watauga Lake to have a picnic. We ate, chatted, strolled around, and I managed to take a number of not- quite-sharply-focused pictures. Whoops!

There's nothing cuter than a Daddy and his little girl!

Ben wanted to hold Izzie's hand in this picture but Izzie vetoed that and tries to make her escape.

Ben set up this picture and instructed everyone to "move your head from side to side like this..."

Pensive

A lot of good thinking takes place in bathtubs and showers.

How to Apply Chapstick

Step One: Remove the cap. If this proves to be impossible, fuss until somebody else does it for you.

Step Two: Apply liberally to lips.

Do not be afraid to use too much... after all, your entire face is exposed to the wind.

Use a gentle touch.

Do not apply while performing tasks requiring intense concentration. (Walking, for example.)

If in doubt, watch a professional and try to imitate his/her technique.

Don't forget to take a moment to savor the flavor. After all, you deserve it.

It took more than a few tries to get this!

Taste Test

We've been doing some baking together recently. It's fun, but it has made my life harder because now Izzie wants to be involved in everything I do in the kitchen and it's hard to be efficient with an eighteen month old hanging off your legs and pushing between you and the counter! I forget what we were making here, but Izzie was the head "dumper" and "stirrer." I bet they don't have those positions in the kitchen Colin is working in.

She was also in charge of taste testing. Looks like that flour tastes pretty good. Perhaps just in comparison to the soil the other day.
