The school had a homecoming festival this weekend. Colin spent most of the day at work helping with preparations, while the kids and I showed up just in time for the fun and games.
Each class ran a booth or game. Ben and Izzie each had at least 2 rides in this cart during the course of the afternoon. A few minutes after I took this picture Ben may or may not have checked for cars, but he definitely forgot to check for the cart before wandering back into the driveway. He now has an impressive scrape on his knee.
One of the games was "Whack-A-Mole" with actual students popping their heads up to get beaten with the squishy hammer.
Izzie focused most of her attention on the student immediately in front of her. There was no escape!
Any good festival will have face painting.
In fact, between these festivals and the preschool I seem to be assembling quite a collection of face painting photos.
The kids had lots of fun running around with some friends, kicking some soccer balls and playing on the playground.
One of the booths was balloon art, and after Ben and Izzie paid for and received their selections, the students graced Colin and myself with free balloon hats...
so we thought we'd get a family portrait. Ben ended up with a balloon sword, shield and scabbard by the end of the night, while Izzie accessorized with a flower bracelet and a sword.
To finish out the evening, there was a cake which had somehow been forgotten about, and we took home a large and tasty piece which everyone enjoyed. I think. Or was it just Colin and myself surreptitiously enjoying it after the kids were asleep? I can't remember...
If you are reading this Ben, you can console yourself with the fact that you still have candy left, and that everyone can see how badly you scraped you knee in the photo.
