Planting Seeds

I decided to try and start some seeds indoors this year. It was too cold to go outside so we brought the soil inside and made a big mess of the family room. But at least it kept everyone entertained for a while, including myself.

Ben did a great job.

Such concentration!

Izzie was very excited about being involved if somewhat imprecise in her filling of the egg carton.

But she does everything Ben does so she was bound to catch on!

You might think she's going to pat the soil down, but no.

The little monkey! She knows she's not in too much trouble because I'm laughing. That's what they call a soil sample.

New Underwear

Due to scratchy tags and leg holes that were much too big, we decided no more Fruit of the Loom for Ben. After looking in several stores for size 2/3 underwear and not finding anything under a size 4 we finally met with success at Walmart. Don't know why I didn't check there first. Unlike other stores they had two choices other than Fruit of the Loom. Ben was very excited to have Elmo on his underwear and as you can see, Izzie didn't want to be left out. Good thing big brother was willing to share.

Slower than a Spinning Chair...

My shutter speed, that is.

Lately Ben has become a little picture director. If I get the camera out he comes up with lots of ideas for pictures. For instance he insisted that we take this one in the corner... which he says is "Daddy's store" ??? It works for me though. As long as I take the pictures he wants me to take, he'll also let me take the pictures I want to take.

Sneak Thief

Izzie climbs up on a chair to sneak some sunflower seeds that I took away from Ben and his friend because they were making a mess on the floor.

Hugs and Kisses

Bedtime at our house involves lots of hugs and kisses. Whenever Izzie sees Mommy and Daddy embracing she tries to wiggle her way into the center of things. She'll hang onto our legs, squeeze herself between us and let us know in no uncertain terms that this should really be a group hug. We always pick her up, and then once she's up she'll hug us for all of 2 seconds before craning her neck to see if there is anything interesting on the kitchen counters. (Most of our hugging seems to take place in the kitchen for some reason.) Ben is really sweet about getting goodnight hugs and kisses from Izzie, although one night almost ended in disaster when he (very dramatically) didn't want Izzie to brush her teeth because he thought she had forgotten to give him a kiss. If you are in our house at bedtime these days you can expect a hug and three kisses from Ben, and a hug and some tongue clicking from Izzie.

Pink and Frilly

I think I might have mentioned last summer how horrified Colin was when he saw the PINK and FRILLY dress that I got for Izzie. Suddenly the weather turned warm and I got an itch to see if it still fit her.

I don't think she's old enough yet to learn about dress etiquette.

So there is a diaper under after all!

Just as I was about to put down the camera she gave me this very serious look.

The other day after giving Ben a bath I was putting on his pajamas when out of the blue he said, "Mom, I'll let you take a picture of my wrinkly hands..." The seriousness of his tone indicated what a great honor he was bestowing upon me. I can only guess that since I take pictures of everything else, or perhaps because last summer I took a picture of both the children's wrinkly feet, that he assumed (correctly) I would love to do this.

The last bath they took together took a turn for the worse when Izzie drew our attention to several new objects floating in the water - none of which could be passed off as bath toys. Although they originated from her, she apparently didn't want them in there any more than Ben did. The bath was quickly drained and I was once again thankful for the penguin toys with the holes - works well as a sieve!

High Chair Games

Hey, where is everybody?

I think I see Mommy!

Boo!
