Daily Photos: Day 175

Sunday, June 22nd

After stuffing a chicken with lemon, garlic and herbs we roasted it on the barbecue using this contraption. (Yes, with the 7-up inside of it.)

Izzie is really enjoying eating solid foods. When we left she was mainly eating sweet potato, carrots, Cheerios and banana, but she will now eat whatever she can get her hands on - and she tries to grab everything. If it is not within reach or the food isn't coming fast enough she will let you know in no uncertain terms. (Which is to say that she shrieks!) In fact, if she is getting sweet potato and carrot and sees that you are having something more exciting, she will also let you know the situation is unacceptable. Her current favourite is chicken soup - little bits of chicken, spiral noodles and soft carrots and celery. She is a very noisy eater and makes lots of slurping and smacking sounds. In this picture she was sampling some pieces of strawberries, and although it looks like she enjoyed them, I seem to remember her not really liking them. She did have a lot of fun picking them up, putting them in her mouth, and then spitting them out and smearing them all over. The strangest thing she has tried and liked so far is a dill pickle. We gave her a spear thinking it would be funny to see her face when she tried it, and to our surprise she cleaned the whole inside off without batting an eye! Perhaps we will have to continue a tradition that my parents started when my sisters and I were young and loved dill pickles - a jar in our stockings at Christmas!

That chicken must have been good, or smelled good. Looks like Ben is licking his lips.
